This course provides the underpinning manoeuvring and ship handling knowledge and skills for Deck Officers on board offshore support vessels. The course prepares deck officers for on board training to gain ultimate ‘driving’ proficiency and is designed to meet the training requirements of STCW 2010 Section B/V(e).

This course is designed to provide training for prospective and existing deck and engineer officers responsible for watchkeeping on board offshore support vessels, including PSV, AHTS, DSV, construction and seismic survey.

The course aims to give participants the key elements of relevant legislation while providing them with a thorough overview of the roles and responsibilities of an offshore crane operator. Participants will learn the fundamentals of safe offshore crane operation and will practice and develop their skills in the offshore crane simulator while under guidance from experienced offshore operators.

With the aid of the simulator providing a virtual offshore environment, the course aims to expose the operator to extreme conditions and uncontrolled situations to test and improve their responses in a safe and controlled environment.

The offshore familiarisation course is designed to provide safety awareness training for ratings assigned specific duties and responsibilities relating to cargo and other deck operations on board offshore support vessels.

The anchor handling familiarisation course is designed to provide training for ratings assigned specific duties and responsibilities relating to anchor handling and towing operations on board anchor handling vessels.
