Management
General Manager – Jeff Knight
I have 14 years experience in the maritime industry, seven of those being in the offshore sector.
Having been a Master on board anchor handling vessels, I understand and appreciate the level of skill and knowledge required for all crew members to ensure safe and efficient operations. The offshore sector is a dangerous and dynamic workplace and I am passionate about ensuring vessel crews are well prepared to meet the challenges they face.
Instructors
|
Chief Simulator Instructor – Anthony Allen
I have 30 years of Naval Officer experience, including command in the RAN, having qualified as a UK Royal Navy Warfare officer and Specialist Navigation officer. I have experience conducting operations and navigating in every ocean in the world, including Antarctica operations and in warships of every variety. I bring extensive HR, leadership, management, communication and cultural behavioural skills to the simulation centre, where my enthusiasm and risk awareness of the maritime environment is valuable in the training and up-skilling of Farstad crews to be ‘Better by Far’.
Development Officer/Instructor - Staale Kalsnes
I have been in the offshore since 1985 where I in started my career with Farstad Shipping. I have been on a wide range of vessel types with experience from the North Sea and Brazil in anchor handling and subsea/ROV operations. I have sailed as Master since 1999.
I have recently worked for 3 years at Aalesund University College, Norway, as an instructor at the anchor handling simulator and the bridge navigation simulator.
Dynamic Positioning Instructor – Andy Rogers
I have been at sea for over twenty years, spending the last 12 of that in the offshore industry. Having worked on Supply vessels, Anchor Handlers, Saturation Dive Vessels, Well Intervention and Drilling rigs as a DPO and Snr DPO, during that time. My DP experience has been gained from Class 1 Supply vessels through to the most complex Class 3, 6th Generation semi subs.
I bring a wealth of operator knowledge and operational experience to the Simulator. I am fully aware of the demands placed on the modern DPO today. I am extremely keen to share my knowledge and experience of the offshore industry, and help to further develop standards, through training in this world class facility.

Chief Dynamic Positioning Instructor – Mark Pointon
I have been involved in the DP industry for longer than I care to remember. I have worked as an Operator, Instructor and Administrator. This experience enables me to appreciate all aspects of the DP Operators role.
I am passionate about Dynamic Positioning and my ambition is to provide top quality training to both new and experienced DPO's in order to develop and maintain their professional status.
Offshore Crane Operator Instructor - Nathan Meade
I have been involved in critical lifting operations for the past 10 years as both a rigger and crane operator.
The past 5 years I have worked in the offshore oil and gas industry predominately as a crane operator.
I have been fortunate enough to have spent the last few years on a 6th generation new build rig with some of the most up to date and modern cranes in the industry including a heave compensated knuckle boom capable of carrying out sub – sea operations.
I am keen to be able to pass on my wealth of experience and enthusiasm for the industry to tomorrows offshore crane operators.
